Volumetric dosing
This type of dosing can be carried out using an Archimedes screw. In addition to its conveying function, it allows volumetric dosing of the product thanks to a continuous feed. The quantity of product to be extracted is calculated according to the number of revolutions of the screw and its operating time (the time is calculated in seconds or minutes).
By controlling the speed of the screw, it is also possible to temper the filling or emptying of the product.
Our engineering department designs conveyors capable of conveying all types of bulk materials in any direction. They can also extract, transport and dose products according to your needs, your environment and your production requirements.
Volumetric dosing of a product can also be achieved by integrating a level probe placed in a hopper. A valve is placed between the screw and the hopper.
The principle is simple: a probe is integrated into the hopper. When the desired level is reached, an electrical contact is made and the probe sends a signal to the PLC. The PLC then stops the screw and closes the valve.
Before volumetric dosing, it is important to go through a calibration step in order to determine how much product is contained in the batch.
Although not very accurate, volumetric dosing has two main advantages: it is inexpensive and faster to perform than weight dosing.
