ISERCO received its German customer and partner, to carry out a pressure test on an EPDM/URA connection sleeve.
Context
This test was carried out after the order of 12 bin activators. These are BINATEX CAO96 1800 bin activators made of stainless steel. They are particularly appreciated when it is necessary to feed a process (dosing, weighing, pneumatic transport…).
Each bin activator is equipped with an EPDM/URA connection sleeve between steel counter-flanges to limit the risk of overpressure.
URA is characterized by:
- Its type: U
- Its high Resistance to pressure
- Its Antistatic properties
EPDM is a very tight and durable material. It is vulcanized rubber. It is, therefore, stronger and more elastic.
These bin activators are also equipped with:
- Of 24 suspensions each
- Of steel silos flanges
- A 15° baffle
- Of earth lugs and wire
- A manual emergency slide plate to isolate the bin activator during maintenance operations.
- An outlet with a slot to insert the manual emergency plate
- Of two vibrating motors ATEX 21
The test
ISERCO bin activators are sometimes subjected to instantaneous or permanent overpressure.
The purpose of the test is to ensure that the connection sleeves are resistant to a minimum of 2 bars of pressure. This is a requirement of the customer’s specifications.
To carry out the test, an EPDM/URA connection sleeve is set up on a test bench. The pressurization is done by filling water inside the test bench. This water also allows a better perception of a possible leak in case of a crack in the connection sleeve at too high a pressure.
The results of this test were conclusive. The results of this test were conclusive. Indeed, at 2 bars, no leakage or deformation was observed. In view of this success, the pressure test was extended to 3 and then 4 bars. The connection sleeve did not show any failure. The test was once again successful.
